Clean Drinking Pottery Workshops

Clean Drinking Pottery hosts on- and off-site workshops for the technical development of student work using the potter's wheel.

Zachary Scholz - San Francisco, CA

"I had thrown a bad pot or two before I started studying ceramics with Hunt Prothro, but it was Hunt who taught me how to really throw. More than technique Hunt imparted the physical philosophy behind a successful vessel's anatomy and energy.

No fixed rules per se, but guiding principals: heavy rims, compressed surfaces, airy bellies, clear transitions. His surfaces on the other hand were a masterclass in subtleties and interactions more commonly found in painting than pottery."

Open Studio Workshop September 19th

Try your hand at pottery or work on existing skills - tricks of the trade, high level critiques, and demonstrations by Hunt Prothro.

Clean Drinking Pottery is hosting a wheel-thrown pottery workshop and hands-on tutorial with a newly introduced Yin Yoga class taught by Director and Yoga Instructor at Movement Climbing Gym, Rockville, MD, Jezelle Abboud.

Much has been said about the meditative qualities of both wheel-thrown pottery, and Yoga. Once upon a time, I told students, “it’s not stop talking and get to work. It’s the other way around.” Pottery and Yoga, perhaps strangely, share this quality of an embodied active centeredness.

$125 per student includes Yoga (optional), and an evening cookout.
